Pendle YFC raises over £15k at 2026 Charity Speed Shear!

Huge congratulations to Pendle Young Farmers Club on another wildly successful annual Charity Speed Shear! Large numbers flocked to Gisburn Auction Mart in Lancashire on Saturday 5th September 2026 for the 5th year of the popular event.

There was a fantastic atmosphere as competitors battled it out to complete the fastest, cleanest lamb shear. Once the competition wrapped up, everyone enjoyed the fully stocked bar and DJ, making it a wonderful evening for the local community!

The event raised an incredible total with over £15,000 to be shared among the club’s selected charities! Lyme Disease UK is incredibly grateful to benefit once again this year.

Pendle Young Farmers Club Charity Speed Shear 2026 - Thank you!

Amazing support for the Lyme community

Pendle YFC’s ongoing support for LDUK has been nothing short of phenomenal! We send our deepest thanks to the club, and also thank Gisburn Auction Mart for hosting and helping to make this a night to remember.

The Duerden family have been involved in organising the annual Charity Speed Shear for several years after Dan Duerden developed Lyme disease when he was 22, likely from a tick bite while shearing sheep. Having experienced life-changing symptoms firsthand, Dan and his family understand only too well the daily challenges that patients face.

Turning hardship into hope

Now back in good health after extended treatment, Dan remains one of LDUK’s valued patient ambassadors. Over recent years, he and his family, friends and the local farming community have raised an outstanding amount of awareness and funds for Lyme patients.

We are so impressed by their joint commitment to help the Lyme community. The support has been invaluable, and we truly cannot thank them enough.
