Every May, a variety of buildings and landmarks recognise Lyme Disease Awareness Month and light up in green to show their support for Light Up For Lyme during our annual Be Tick Aware Campaign.
We’ve seen some really iconic sites across the UK and Ireland light up over the years! From Tower 42, the Blackpool Tower and Spinnaker Tower, to The Kelpies and Alexandra Palace – we’ve been so delighted that so many venues are keen to help raise awareness. Even the Titan Crane at Clydebank, Kilmarnock Viaduct and the Grand Pier at Weston-super-Mare have all lit up for Lyme!
We are very grateful to everyone that helps to make light-ups possible each year. From our patient community for suggesting suitable sites, to our friends at the Lyme Resource Centre (LRC) and Tick Talk Ireland (TTI), and the generous staff at each site.
Special thanks also to Councillor Liam Callaghan, Cathaoirleach of Roscommon County Council, Dr Martin Daly TD for Roscommon-Galway, Roscommon community advocate Paddy Joe Burke, patient advocate Jennifer O’Beirne and her parents John and Patricia O’Beirne, for raising awareness of Lyme disease in County Roscommon (ROI).
