  • Lyme disease is caused by Borrelia, a spirochaetal bacteria. It’s the most common tick-borne disease in the northern hemisphere. Ticks have been found in every county in the United Kingdom in wooded areas and heathland, but also in urban parks and gardens.
  • Public Health England estimates 3,000 new cases of Lyme disease per year. The true figure is likely much higher due to unreliable testing and a lack of knowledge amongst the public and medical profession.
