A huge thank you to the amazing team from Scottish Woodlands Ltd who braved dizzying heights by taking part in a 30m pole climb at the Royal Highland Show in Edinburgh in June.
The annual pole climb is a popular event in the Show’s Forestry Arena. Two new Douglas Fir tree trunks were felled on the Kirkennan Estate, south of Dalbeattie in Dumfries and Galloway, and installed at Ingliston in time for the start of the show. The world record for climbing the 30-metre pole is under 10 seconds!
Dan Wilson, Fraser Wight, Eddie Addis, Jillian Kennedy, Mike Page, Cameron Woodall, Simon Oldham all successfully completed the challenge over the course of the 4 day show. Incredibly, some of them even managed to make the climb in the rain! Simon Oldham, Technical Director, Scottish Woodlands Ltd presented the prizes to the winners of the competition.
Thank you so much to Scottish Woodlands for your support as our Corporate Partner for 2023. Over £4,000 has already been raised by their wonderful charity events, with another one in taking in place in just a few weeks time.
For their next challenge ‘Run Forest(er) Run!’, staff from the South West Region will cycle, run, walk, swim, paddle an impressive 96.7 miles from the Fenwick to Dumfries Office. Each leg will be completed simultaneously on Friday 18th August. Support the team by donating to their fundraising page today!
