The final May bank holiday weekend saw Lyme Disease UK attend the amazing Bushcraft Show at Lutterworth in Leicestershire. This 3-day event is an excellent opportunity to raise awareness of Lyme disease and how to prevent it as everybody who attends embraces the great outdoors!
LDUK’s Press and Community Outreach Manager, Julia Knight, attended with husband John who volunteers every year to do all the hard work of erecting the LDUK gazebo and handling all the necessary equipment needed for such a large event. They were also joined by LDUK member, Julie-Ann Gylaitis who also did a sterling job of raising awareness alongside Julia. Thank you, Julie-Ann!
Julia kicked the main stage presentations off on the first day with an awareness talk about Lyme disease and top tips about how to prevent it. You can watch some of Julia’s presentation below…..
Many people visited our stall taking awareness information home with them, buying tick tools, and asking many questions. Children enjoyed winning an edible jelly insect when they could correctly tell Julia how many legs a tick has!
“Bushcraft 2023 was a truly amazing experience as in other years. Meeting people face to face and raising awareness is very rewarding!”
Julia Knight, LDUK Press and Community Outreach Manager
The wonderful Green Man of the Woods supported our campaign as ever. Huge thanks must go the David Thompson from the Bushcraft Show who generously invites LDUK every year. Looking forward to Bushcraft 2024 already!
