When Covid-19 hit in 2020, Lyme Disease UK was forced to find innovative, new ways of raising awareness of Lyme disease and how to prevent it. The idea of offering Wake Up To Lyme awareness talks via video conferencing to organisations interested in prevention was born.
Many awareness talks later, ranging from national organisations such as Natural England to small local scouting groups, LDUK’s Press and Community Outreach Manager, Julia Knight, recently travelled to Hampshire to give an in-person talk to an organisation; something she hadn’t done for a long time!
Julia was invited to present to Fleet U3A Health and Wellbeing Group, and what an event it was, with at least 100 people turning up to hear her speak! The Q&A which followed was also lively, with many excellent questions being asked by the audience.
Big thanks to Stuart Williams and the rest of the team who invited Julia to speak. It was a wonderful event, which highlighted exactly what Lyme Disease Awareness Month stands for!
Are you a member of an organisation that might benefit from one of our free awareness talks? Perhaps you work for an company that hires staff outdoors, or you’re a forest school, or walking group?
We would love to hear from you! Do get in touch with Julia and she’ll book in a convenient time for your talk. She would be delighted to discuss the ways she can tailor the session to you.
