We’re thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity to partner with corporate sponsors!
A team of amazing men will be rowing across the Atlantic in 2024 to raise awareness of Lyme disease and raise funds for us!
The Talisker Whisky Atlantic Rowing Challenge will see Team SeaSoar row 3,000 miles from the Canary Islands to Antigua, battling waves up to 20 feet high!
TWAC is an annual event with up to 50 teams racing across the Atlantic in rowing boats. They’ll be rowing for 2 hours then resting for 2 hours constantly, 24 hours a day, for around 40 days. On average they’ll each lose 12kg on the journey, burning 5000 calories each day and drinking 10 litres of water!
The fundraising challenge is a deeply personal one for the team. They are passionate about raising funds for LDUK as team member John’s daughter, Yasmin, has chronic Lyme disease.
23 year-old, Yasmin, was bitten by a tick some four years ago and has steadily deteriorated from the effects of this awful bacterial infection. A Cambridge University graduate, she has become only too familiar with the details of this debilitating disease and her life has been turned completely upside down. Like many Lyme disease sufferers, she went from being a healthy, active student to feeling like an old woman every day, struggling to complete basic tasks.
The team are self-funding their entrance fee to the race, but are looking for sponsorship to raise money for LDUK as their chosen charity, and pay for other essentials. You can read more about sponsorship opportunities via their sponsorship brochure.
As the team embark on their first official training course, we speak to John, Niall and Sam in this video to find out more!
