Our Press and Community Outreach Manager, Julia Knight, was delighted to be invited to give a tick awareness talk via Zoom to the 5th Rayleigh Scout Group in June. Organised by their leader, Jo Garnett, it was a very well attended and lively session with lots of excellent questions asked at the end by both the Scouts and Cubs.
The group learnt where ticks live and how tiny they can be, how to protect themselves from a tick bite, how to remove a tick and what to look out for and do if they are bitten and feel unwell.
Jo aims to do a follow-up session with her group using LDUK’s tick activity pack which you can find here. She also plans to organise a fundraiser for us!
Thank you so much to Jo and all of the Scouts and Cubs from the 5th Rayleigh Scout group. It was a really fun session!
