Hi, I’m Jenny, I’m 29 and live in London. I’m so excited to announce that I have just published a book about my fight with chronic Lyme disease! I’ve often been told I should write my story and not being a keen writer, I have always put it off.
However, now that I am at the end of my seven year battle with chronic Lyme disease, I wanted to offer other sufferers a success story to read and to give them some hope for brighter days ahead. For me, the hardest part I found going through my journey, was not being able to relate to anybody else and not having something positive to read about people getting better. I found at times it could be a very lonely and isolating experience and I just kept wanting to know that one day there was the possibility that I would get better and that this wouldn’t last forever.
I wrote this book to share an insight into what my life was like during these seven years and to hopefully raise some awareness about this awful disease too, especially as here in the UK we are still fighting for more awareness.
My first severe symptoms began when I was 22 years old. I never had the bull’s-eye rash and I don’t remember being bitten either so unfortunately I wasn’t able to treat it early. I suffered with neurological Lyme disease and co-infections which took over 3 years to diagnose and have also suffered with SIBO and mould toxins as secondary health conditions too.
My book goes through my journey of first becoming ill, the fight to finding a diagnosis, the treatment I had and how my life is now. Writing it has been such a healing process and a time of closure for me and although I still have a little way to go with regaining my full health, I am now able to live a relatively normal life, with a full time job, regular exercise and maintain a social life, which is all I ever wished for!
If my story can help just one person, somehow and somewhere, then it will make me so incredibly happy!
For those of you fighting Lyme disease, I wish you all the strength in the world. Never give up! You’re strong and you’ve got this.
If you would like to read in more detail about my journey over the last 7 years, my book is available to purchase worldwide on Amazon. I hope you enjoy it and I thank you in advance.
Love Jenny xx
