Manchester to Liverpool Ultra Marathon

LDUK is delighted to announce that Colin Ratcliffe and his team of runners are running the 50 mile Manchester to Liverpool Ultra Marathon in aid of LDUK on 10th April. Here, Colin shares his motivation to undertake this impressive feat. We wish Colin all the best – we are so grateful!

“My name is Colin Ratcliffe, husband to Lisa Ratcliffe who unfortunately has been a long suffering Lyme disease patient for a number of years. She was bitten by an infected tick some 5 years ago, and has been struck down with countless debilitating symptoms ever since. She is unable to work and is registered disabled, has difficulty with everyday life whilst trying to be a mum, wife and lead as normal a life as possible. All because of a little tick bite which at the time we didn’t know would have such devastating effects without having the right course of immediate treatment.

Lyme Disease UK are a fantastic source of information and help for us, and a key link to others who share this wicked condition which at the present doesn’t have a cure. This is why I’ve chosen to support them, and help people like my Lisa.

On the 10th April 2020 (Good Friday) I will be undertaking the Manchester to Liverpool Ultra Marathon running 50 miles. I’m being joined by a small contingent of my running club members (BTR Road Runners, Hoylake), who are going to help support the charity also, which is brilliant. It would be wonderful if you are able to support by sponsoring me on this challenging adventure. Please spread the word and share my challenge…

Thanks so much!”

*This event has been postponed until 2022 due to COVID-19.
